Cambodia has an estimated population of 16 million people, 85% of whom live in rural areas. An estimated 200,000 people are blind, mainly due to avoidable causes like cataracts and glaucoma. Limited access to affordable treatments and a lack of knowledge about eye problems and suitable treatments are significant challenges.

Cambodia has a high number of landmine victims and disabilities. CSC is a tertiary teaching hospital that performs free and low-cost surgeries for economically disadvantaged patients. We support CSC by providing cataract surgery kits to make their ophthalmic care possible.

Receiving Cataract Kits

The Project of 5000 Cataract kits for 5000 Cataract surgeries is currently ongoing.
Equipment for Primary Eye Care Centers

The Project for the supply of equipment for our Primary Eye Care Center (PECC), which includes Indirect, slit-lamp, Refraction kits, and so on for 4 centers are those for previously.
We have opened 3 centers - Abeokuta, Agege and Ota. We are yet to have the last one in Abuja but the equipment are in store.

Mariam, Mother of Four

Mariam hadn’t seen her two oldest children in 10 years—and had never seen her two youngest. Undiagnosed bilateral cataracts left this 35-year-old mother overwhelmed and hopeless. Her 15-year-old daughter became her caregiver, missing school and carrying the weight of the household. Desperate for change, Mariam went to a medical outreach sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was diagnosed and referred for cataract surgery. Seeing her children’s faces again filled her with joy. Now, she looks forward to working, regaining independence, and rebuilding her life. She is deeply and forever grateful.
LDS Missionaries in Action with CharityVision

In Nigeria, CharityVision is partnering with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to provide affordable eye care. Missionaries are helping with screenings and glasses delivery, and local chapels have become welcoming spaces for care. Community members have shared that within those walls, they not only received help—but also felt Christ-like love.
From Darkness to Light: Chinyere’s Story

Three years of blindness forced Chinyere to give up her small clothing business in Badagry, Lagos. Depression followed, straining her 13-year marriage—though her husband remained faithfully by her side. When she heard about a free eye screening at a local church, hope returned. After a successful surgery, her sight—and her spirit—were restored. Now, Chinyere is ready to work again and embrace life with new light.
