Why Sight?

1.1 billion of the world suffer from some kind of visual impairment and lack access to medical care.

That means this issue affects roughly one in eight people globally. This is why CharityVision exists: to improve lives across the planet by making a difference in communities, not just in individuals' lives.

The Impact

Thanks to your support, our annual impact includes:

  • Over 150,000 eye surgeries

  • Donations of over 100,000 glasses

  • And screening of over 1.5 million patients!

In total, we've performed thousands of medical procedures across more than 30 countries—and counting!

The Secret of Our Success

Can you imagine not seeing your kids for 10 years? Or anything, for that matter? How would that affect your life?
Now, imagine that, suddenly, that all changed and you could see again. How big of a difference would that make? Wouldn’t it change everything?

Thanks to our partners, CharityVision can make this a reality in 30+ countries worldwide! Not only that, but you can change a life even with just a small donation: $10 to provide prescription glasses and $25 for cataract surgery.

What is our secret to making this possible, you might ask? Well, it has all to do with how we empower communities and hospitals! CharityVision helps provide training, infrastructure, equipment, and supplies so that local doctors can make a sustainable, long-term impact. This avoids the issues that more traditional mass medical missions have: they can undermine local economies, they lack the ability to provide necessary follow-up care for patients, and discourage local sustainability.

Why You’ll Want to Get Involved

Life is more enjoyable when you see it clearly

Ginia David

Ginia David lived in darkness for 11 years due to her parents' mistrust of modern medicine. Dropping out of high school, she became entirely reliant on them, feeling her life lacked purpose. However, she boldly decided to seek help at our CharityVision clinic last year. The doctor diagnosed her with severe cataracts in both eyes.

Initially hesitant about surgery, Ginia doubted its potential to restore her sight. Yet, when she finally underwent this quick procedure, it gave her the confidence to thrive again. Now, she is studying English, and her self-esteem is higher than ever. Ginia is a beautiful woman inside and out.

Siba Munda

Completely blind since birth and abandoned by his parents, Siba was taken in by his uncle. At 14 years old, Siba was unable to attend school, socialize with other children, or perform daily tasks. Because of our donors, local doctors found Siba and provided free cataract surgeries. What a magnificent day! He now attends school, takes care of himself, and sees the ones he loves.

Besta Kidmon

Besta Kidmon is 8 years old and has had poor vision in her left eye since birth. Due to this, she has struggled to go to school. Now, she is not going at all. Her parents have taken her to several hospitals, but doctors said it could not be treated. Her mother almost gave up getting her treatment until she attended a free eye screening with CharityVision. Now that she can see, she's able to attend school and learn alongside her friends.

Mason

When Mason first wore his new glasses, he ran straight to the window and exclaimed, “I can finally see the mountains!” He wandered the hallways of the elementary school, reading every sign. With tears in his eyes, he said, “I can actually read everything now... thank you!” Mason's emotional reaction was unmatched. He dreams of becoming an explorer, and with his new glasses, we believe he can make that dream a reality.
