Despite her family's opposition to attending school, Rehema Hassan enrolled anyway and quickly rose to the top of her class. Recently, her poor vision caused her to struggle in her studies and lose confidence. Luckily, our Tanzania team provided a free eye screening at her school and discovered she has very high myopia.

With new glasses, Rehema is thrilled to see clearly and excel in high school again!

Yustina George, a 27-year-old mother of seven, was slowly losing her sight until life went completely black just before delivering her last child.

That is when her husband left her and the kids. After three years of fear and uncertainty, she found hope at a free screening! Despite being told her condition couldn’t be treated, a successful surgery by Dr. Olando at CVT Specialized Eye Clinic restored her vision. Now, Yustina is overjoyed seeing her children, especially her youngest for the first time. Donors like you changed her life, and of course, she is forever grateful.

Dr. Rajabu Kisonga, our new surgeon in Kahama, Tanzania, is the only ophthalmologist within a three-hour drive, bringing life-changing eye care to the region. For the first time, this community will have a dedicated ophthalmologist year-round to help restore sight to those in need.

Our team in Tanzania expressed their affection for the community by organizing a 14-day event named 'Onyesha Upendo' ('Show Love' in Swahili). During this event, they helped 479 patients, donated 228 glasses, and conducted 32 cataract surgeries. Love sees clearly!

In a small village in Tanzania, Juliana grew up believing poor vision was her family's fate. She never attended school, struggled to care for her children, and worried deeply as some of them began showing the same signs. When her marriage fell apart, Juliana moved back in with her parents.

They had lost all hope… until our partners reached their village. Juliana, her mother, and her brother were diagnosed with cataracts and received surgery right away.

For the first time since their birth, Juliana saw her children's faces clearly. And now, her daughter has been referred for specialized care to receive the care she needs.
