Pakistan has one of the highest blindness rates for children in the world, and yet there is no government funding for cataract surgery. Consequently, nonprofits carry the full burden of providing assistance to patients in need.
Our School Eye Screening Program, called SightBuddies, should be on a mass level in the next few years.

CharityVision founded a hospital in Mansehra, Pakistan that performs 3,000 cataract surgeries each year. We also partner with other ophthalmologists who perform screenings in remote villages.

Sending Equipment

CharityVision’s U.S. Warehouse is taking an important step to improve eye care access in South Asia by preparing a container of vital medical equipment and supplies. This shipment will support the new Mehboob Charity Vision Hospital in Lahore and the upcoming eye care clinic in Islamabad, facilitating upcoming eye programs throughout the region.
The shipment includes eye exam stations, surgical tools, diagnostic equipment, and hundreds of glasses—all vital for launching high-quality, sustainable services.
Making our Tier 3 Hospital

Country Director Juliet Nalubowa is connecting with new partners. Our 2025 goal is 18 partnerships with local hospitals and clinics, doubling our efforts from 2024.
School Eye Screenings

Mehboob CharityVision partners with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to expand the SightBuddies School Screening program. They will provide free eye care and glasses to children in Pakistan. Thousands in underserved communities will get vision screenings, corrective lenses, and treatment for preventable eye conditions—helping them succeed in school and life.

We are currently building a new clinic in Islamabad that is set to open in 2026. Mehboob Charity Vision is dedicated to restoring sight and transforming lives by providing free and low-cost eye care to those who need it most.
The clinic will offer a full range of services including eye exams, prescription glasses, treatment for common eye conditions, and life-changing surgeries—all delivered with dignity, compassion, and excellence.

Accessible Eyecare

Accessible eyecare makes a real impact. Welcome the newer Mehboob CharityVision eye clinic in Oghi, Pakistan. We are now serving those who need it most.
Essilor to the rescue

We are grateful to Essilor for providing a second grant for frames and lenses for our clinic, Mehboob CharityVision, in Pakistan. Thanks to their generosity, thousands of children will be blessed with better vision through SightBuddies!
Teachers Trained in Pakistan SightBuddies Program

SightBuddies Pakistan held a school eye screening at the Government Islamic Leader Academy where 400 students were examined and 35 school teachers trained. By training teachers to aid in vision screenings, our Pakistan program has been able to grow significantly and become increasingly self-sustaining.
Nadim can read!

An 8-year-old book lover, Nadim, struggled to read his favorite books because the words appeared blurry. His parents noticed he was becoming despondent in school.
Fortunately, our Pakistan partners provided free eye screenings during the school day. They discovered that Nadim had a refractive error, and there was a simple solution! Nadim received glasses, and voilà! He could finally see the world clearly, play, and read easily... Just look at that smile!
Students Get Their First Eye Screening

Last week, the SightBuddies team helped 586 students from a Girls' School in rural Pakistan receive their first eye exams. Most needed medicine and prescription glasses even to see the board. Your donation helps us reach more schools this year. Thank you!
