Nearly seven in ten children in Guatemala live in poverty and lack access to basic vision care, making it difficult to learn and succeed in school. (UNICEF) This causes children to leave school in order to assist their parents with work.

The QuieroVer program expands access to vision care for children across Guatemala by partnering with local doctors, schools, and community organizations. Through school-based vision screenings, comprehensive eye exams, and affordable glasses, we identify and treat vision problems before they become barriers to learning. By reaching thousands of children each year, we help students see clearly, stay engaged in school, and achieve their full potential. With just $10, a donor can provide a child with the gift of clear vision through a pair of prescription glasses.

Our Partners

GecoLentes Óptica’s invaluable contribution turns a vision screening into a pair of glasses for thousands of children in Guatemala. They help edge the lenses for every pair of glasses donated to students through the QuieroVer school screening program.
Dr. Rudy Gutiérrez’s clinics donate their time and talent to provide quality eye care to children in their own schools. Thanks to their multiple locations, CharityVision can take the QuieroVer program to different regions of the country.

'QuieroVer' School Eye Screening Program

This initiative is made possible by the generosity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and local partners such as the Dr. Rudy Gutierrez Ophthalmic Clinic.
Eyeglasses and Equipment Donations

We distribute eyeglasses to patients with refractive errors and donate ophthalmic equipment to partner clinics. In 2024, 2,174 pairs of eyeglasses were provided.

My motivation is helping the children of my country. I know social programs exist in Guatemala, but the reality is that help often doesn't reach those who need it most. Being part of QuieroVer and CharityVision carries the responsibility of organizing vision screenings and partnerships effectively.
I don't see it as a job, but as a mission to serve with all my heart.
