Our Impact
CharityVision’s Model - Bullet Points
CharityVision focuses on empowering in-country doctors rather than relying on external medical missions. Instead of flying in foreign teams to perform temporary services, we help build local capacity that lasts.
We do this by:
Training and equipping local doctors
Providing essential infrastructure and supplies
Unlike short-term missions that often:
Undercut local economies
Overlook post-operative care
Offer no sustainable path forward
…our approach supports lasting change.
Although we occasionally send U.S. doctors abroad, it's only for training purposes—not for direct treatment. The goal is to build independence, not dependence.
Thanks to our in-country partners, vital services are provided at remarkably low costs:
Prescription glasses: $10
Cataract surgery: $25
Screenings and outreach: often free or low-cost
Even a small donation can create a big impact.

CharityVision’s Model - Original
CharityVision’s sustainable model is designed to empower in-country doctors with training, infrastructure, equipment, and supplies. Instead of organizing medical missions to serve the masses — which can undermine a country’s economy, neglect the necessary follow-up care for patients, and discourse local sustainability — CharityVision instead focuses on making lasting change in the community and country.
While we do send U.S. doctors, it is for training purposes only. Our goal is to empower local in-country doctors and hospitals by equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to make a sustainable impact in their own communities.
Thanks to these local doctors, not only is there little to no cost for screenings and outreach, but we also offer prescription glasses for only $10 and cataract surgery for just $25 — meaning even small donations can go a long way!

Over 1.1 billion of the world suffer from some kind of visual impairment and lack access to the medical care they need. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI): “Vision loss can affect one’s quality of life, independence, and mobility and has been linked to worsened status in mental health, cognition, social function, employment, and education attainment.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that vision is the gateway to every other Sustainable Development Goal. Access to vision care supports quality education, reduces poverty, eliminates hunger, and drives economic growth. Not only that, but restoring vision is the most cost-effective way to change someone's life.

There are many ways to make a difference beyond giving money. Volunteering your time, helping collect essential supplies for shipment, and assisting with eyeglass assembly are just a few hands-on ways to contribute.
You can also create impact by spreading awareness—whether through social media, local community centers, or programs focused on global vision care. Empowering others to join the cause helps multiply the impact you can make.

SightBuddies is our international child school screening program —called "Quiero Ver" in Latin America. With over 15% of children unable to see the board and 10-20% of all children screened needing glasses, then it is imperative that we reach each child around the globe to help them get sight!
By training teachers and older students to conduct initial vision screenings, we can quickly identify children who may need further care. Our SightBuddies teams then follow up with professional screenings and provide glasses—at no cost—to children from low-income families.
To see the smile on these children's faces will change your life for good—forever!

Like all organizations we do have overhead, but we pride ourselves in keeping it to a manageable and appropriate level. To ensure donor contributions go exactly where they’re needed, we established a medical company that helps us source equipment and supplies while also generating its own income. The profits from this company cover the foundation's overhead, which means 100% of your donation will go directly towards our mission.
