Why Sight?

1.1 billion of the world suffer from some kind of visual impairment and lack access to medical care.

That means this issue is affecting roughly one out of every eight people globally. This is why CharityVision exists: to improve lives across the planet by making a change in communities, not just in the lives of individuals.

The Secret of Our Success

Can you imagine not seeing your kids for 10 years? Or anything, for that matter? How would that affect your life?

Now, imagine that, suddenly, that all changed and you could see again. How big of a difference would that make? Wouldn’t it change everything?

CharityVision is able to make this a reality in countries and communities across the world! Not only that, but you can change a life even with just a small donation: $10 to provide prescription glasses and $25 for cataract surgery.

What is our secret to making this possible, you might ask? Well, it has all to do with how we empower communities and hospitals! CharityVision helps provide training, infrastructure, equipment, and supplies so that local doctors can make a sustainable, long-term impact. This avoids the issues that more traditional mass medical missions have: they can undermine local economies, they lack the ability to provide necessary follow-up care for patients, and discourage local sustainability.

Ginia David

Ginia David lived in darkness for 11 years due to her parents' mistrust of modern medicine. Dropping out of high school, she became entirely reliant on them, feeling her life lacked purpose. However, she boldly decided to seek help at our CharityVision clinic last year. The doctor diagnosed her with severe cataracts in both eyes.

Initially hesitant about surgery, Ginia doubted its potential to restore her sight. Yet, when she finally underwent this quick procedure, it gave her the confidence to thrive again. Now, she is studying English, and her self-esteem is higher than ever. Ginia is a beautiful woman inside and out.

Siba Munda

Completely blind since birth and abandoned by his parents, Siba was taken in by his uncle. At 14 years old, Siba was unable to attend school, socialize with other children, or perform daily tasks. Because of our donors, local doctors found Siba and provided free cataract surgeries. What a magnificent day! He now attends school, takes care of himself, and sees the ones he loves.

Customer 2

Besta Kidmon

Besta Kidmon is 8 years old and has had poor vision in her left eye since birth. Due to this, she has struggled to go to school. Now, she is not going at all. Her parents have taken her to several hospitals, but doctors said it could not be treated. Her mother almost gave up getting her treatment until she attended a free eye screening with CharityVision. Now that she can see, she's able to attend school and learn alongside her friends.

FAQ

  • OAccording to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI): “Vision loss can affect one’s quality of life, independence, and mobility and has been linked to worsened status in mental health, cognition, social function, employment, and education attainment.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that vision is the gateway to every other Sustainable Development Goal. Access to vision care supports quality education, reduces poverty, eliminates hunger, and drives economic growth. Not only that, but restoring vision is the most cost-effective way to change someone's life.

  • There are many ways to make a difference beyond giving money. Volunteering your time, helping collect essential supplies for shipment, and assisting with eyeglass assembly are just a few hands-on ways to contribute.

You can also create impact by spreading awareness—whether through social media, local community centers, or programs focused on global vision care. Empowering others to join the cause helps multiply the impact you can make.

  • SightBuddies is our international child school screening program —called "Quiero Ver" in Latin America. With over 15% of children unable to see the board and 10-20% of all children screened needing glasses, then it is imperative that we reach each child around the globe to help them get sight!

By training teachers and older students to conduct initial vision screenings, we can quickly identify children who may need further care. Our SightBuddies teams then follow up with professional screenings and provide glasses—at no cost—to children from low-income families.

To see the smile on these children's faces will change your life for good—forever!

  • Like all organizations we do have overhead, but we pride ourselves in keeping it to a manageable and appropriate level. To ensure donor contributions go exactly where they’re needed, we established a medical company that helps us source equipment and supplies while also generating its own income. The profits from this company cover the foundation's overhead, which means 100% of your donation will go directly towards our mission.
