Nine out of ten children in Panama live in poverty and lack access to basic vision care, making it difficult to learn and succeed in school. (UNICEF) This leads children to drop out of school to help their parents work.

The QuieroVer program expands access to vision care for children across Panama by partnering with local doctors, schools, and community organizations. Through school-based vision screenings, comprehensive eye exams, and affordable glasses, we identify and treat vision problems before they become barriers to learning. By reaching thousands of children each year, we help students see clearly, stay engaged in school, and achieve their full potential. With just $10, a donor can provide a child with the gift of clear vision through a pair of prescription glasses.
CharityVision also supports local Ophthalmologists to provide accessible cataract surgeries and treatment to those in need.

Our Partners

The Club de Leones Penonomé empowers children’s education by providing access to proper vision care. They partner with CharityVision’s QuieroVer school program to offer prescription glasses to children in need. They also receive medical supplies from CharityVision to perform low-cost cataract surgeries in the country.
UDELAS offers its residents hands-on experience by supporting CharityVision's eye screenings in Panama. Children and adults who do not pass their tests receive a pair of glasses or are referred to specialist care at no cost/subsidized rate.
The Despacho de la Primera Dama empowers children’s education by doing school screenings through CharityVision’s QuieroVer program. Children who fail their test receive a pair of glasses at no cost to their parents.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints supports education through clear vision. They sponsor the QuieroVer school eye screening program in Panama.

'QuieroVer' School Eye Screening Program

It’s more than just glasses; it’s about helping kids achieve their full potential! With 80% of learning being visual, CharityVision visits schools, provides eye screenings, and gives a pair of prescription glasses for only $10 per child. (Children also receive referrals to our partners for advanced treatment when needed.)

Eyeglasses and Equipment Donations

We distribute eyeglasses to patients with refractive errors and donate ophthalmic equipment to partner clinics. In 2025, 335 pairs of eyeglasses were provided.
The Miracle of Cataract Surgeries

Medical supplies have arrived and are being shared with local partners, making it possible to provide around 30 cataract surgeries every month.
For many patients, this surgery has been years on the waiting. Thanks to strong partnerships, CharityVision can provide life-changing cataract surgery for just $25 per eye.

Three days. Five organizations. 30+ people regained independence and clear vision!

Hospital Dr. Rafael Estévez in Aguadulce held the First Cataract Campaign, providing social cataract surgeries to more than 30 patients who had been waiting for the opportunity to restore their vision.
Thanks to the support of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Hospital Aquilino Tejeira - MINSA, CharityVision, and the coordination of the Penonomé Lions Club, more people in Panama are regaining their independence and improving their quality of life.
