Ghana faces a significant shortage of eye care professionals and uneven access to services, especially in rural areas. Common eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and uncorrected refractive errors are prevalent, yet often go untreated due to cost, lack of awareness, or limited infrastructure. Children’s vision needs are underserved, and public education on eye health remains low.
-
Our partners include St. Thomas Eye Hospital, where we have donated consumables and are currently collaborating on an eye clinic in Takoradi. We also partner with UTSA for an annual outreach eye camp each September, providing eye equipment, consumables, and glasses. In addition, we support the University of Optometry in Kumasi by contributing to their program for training residents. Soon, we will be sending a container of equipment to support all three of these initiatives.
All of these help us to reach sustainability, elevate eye care training for the local doctors and support great organizations with a heart to serve and make a difference in the lives of the wonderful Ghanaian population.
