Sierra Leone

  • Sierra Leone, home to 8.5 million people, struggles with poverty, with nearly 60% living below the poverty line. Around 60,000 people face avoidable blindness due to limited access to affordable eye care. Cataracts, glaucoma, and river blindness are common causes of vision loss. With only six ophthalmologists nationwide, the lack of services and high costs make treatment difficult.

  • CharityVision addresses accessibility in eye care by partnering and supporting local hospitals, clinics, and ophthalmologists to provide low-cost or free eye surgeries. Through these partnerships, CharityVision supplies surgical consumables, instruments, and training, making essential eye care more accessible.

  • “Contributing to society and human lives comes in diverse ways. With CharityVision, I have realized my contribution to Sierra Leone is to give life, hope, and joy to my fellow Sierra Leoneans, including myself. I am proud to be part of this great cause to restore lives through sight in Sierra Leone.”

“There is immeasurable happiness to see able men, women, and children regaining their sights unimaginably and miraculously through charitable work.”
